Trips With Jane: The Artist Tree Dispensary & Studio Lounge

We went to a comedy show sponsored by 710Labs & Connected. Here’s a rundown of what you can expect

We arrived at 7pm and our seating time was 7:15pm; they stagger seating starting about an hour before showtime. I imagine that they do this because the host area upstairs is a small space. We were greeted and checked in with our IDs and directed to go upstairs where the host stand was. If you’ve never been to The Artist Tree, they’re known to have unique and stylish collection of art hanging all over their interior like a gallery. This location was no exception. It was bright with white walls that could showcase the flower and the art. Upstairs the host greeted us and showed us through the wooden, floor-to-ceiling double doors into a long and narrow dimly lit room. On one end was the bar and on the other end was a patio which doubled to ventilate the space since we’d be smoking. Our table was cozy and close to the stage. The space was set up to accommodate different sized parties on the patio, in the central area and then smaller two-tops along the wall.

Since our seating was earlier, we had enough time to get greeted by our server, order food before the main menu closed and get a nice high started before the show. There was a munchies menu with classic snacks like popcorn, cookies, chips, etc. We ordered an eighth of the Kiwi Kush by Maven in search of a sativa-hybrid feel, fun but grounded. The high was sweet and strong; uplifting and maybe too much in your head while the come down was lazy and heavy.  We had plenty leftover to take home by the end of the night.

There were 6-7 comedians who each told jokes for about 10 minutes, performing different kinds of humor. As the night went on you could feel the haze set in as people smoked and ate and melted into chuckles and belly laughs. It was a fun Thursday night: affordable with an easygoing and friendly crowd. Nothing too high maintenance. The Artist Tree has events regularly from co-working hours to open mics and paint nights—I’m sure we’ll be back very soon.

Our tips for visiting The Artist Tree:

Charge your phone (some menus are accessed through QR codes and you may need your flashlight)

Bring cannabis essentials

·        papers or wraps

·        a grinder—provided but not the best quality

Don’t eat beforehand. The food options smelled so good and I regret not getting one of the cookies as a treat.
